Thanks...I am working with a couple of distros I want to modify so they will
boot faster on QEMU and also utilize persistence. Customizing the
/etc/init.d/* scripts will be my next step.

I have run various live Linux CD distributions (Knoppix, DSL, Ubuntu, etc.)
under QEMU and was wondering if there is really a need to run the various
hardware detection scripts in the live CDs? Obviously, a script for getting
an IP address is needed but if I know I am running the distro under QEMU
I want to know if the following idea is impossible, possible or just crazy.
I want to create a distro small Linux distro that will boot as a Qemu
guest as quickly as possible. I realize that the time it takes to
boot, open apps, etc is based on host OS, CPU, memory, etc. What I am
wondering is wo
1. Can the commands (i.e. sendkeys, savevm, loadvm) be initiated from
within the guest OS? If so, can you give me an example?
2. When executing 'savevm' can it be saved to a virtual disk?
Thanks,

I have a couple of questions regarding commands as part of the Qemu monitor:

I have several versions and instances of QEMU in
various directories. mainly I run Linux distros on top of my host XP
computer for testing before putting them on USB pendrives.
A few days ago I started receiving the following error message whenever I try to run QEMU:
Could not initialize SDL
You can download the qemu 0.8.0 binary for Windows at:

I am using Qemu to boot various Linux distro's on Windows & Linux hosts. I am noticing that the last two released versions (0.7.2 & 0.8.0) crash when pressing Ctrl-Alt-F for fullscreen. Version 0.7.0 appears to not have this problem.
Is anyone else seeing this? am I missing something?thanks, desNot
I am wondering if Apple's switch over to Intel will make it easier or harder to use a Mac as host using qemu? Also, what about the Mac OS's as guest?Any thought?desNotes

I have used 0.7.2 using -initrd with windows as the host and DSL as the guest and it appears to be working fine (as well as 0.7.0). Here is an example:START qemu\qemu_072.exe -L qemu/ -enable-audio -localtime -kernel linux24 -initrd
minirt24.gz -hda KNOPPIX/knoppix -hdb qemu/harddisk -append "qemu
