The Py_CLEAR macros is used as safe alternative for following unsafe
idiomatic code:
Py_XDECREF(ptr);
ptr = NULL;
But other unsafe idiomatic code is widely used in the sources:
Py_XDECREF(ptr);
ptr = new_value;
