I think you misunderstood, the alpha would be 2 weeks before
current beta, ie a month before release and that surely can be
done if the release is planned properly.

to give the users and the non developers more time to test the plasma
release. I would prefer to make an alpha release together with an kf
release two weeks later a beta and together with the next kf5 release the
final plasma release.
