I did since I was making the select with WHERE ID = '$ID'
so I get the var $ID.,

Works for me. Are you adding the ?ID=500 to the url? If you don't have
that, then the ID is 0, so

Use the LIMIT tag in your select statement. You can also choose which
matching record to start from.
