Here's the deal:
mysqld, the database server, has to be running and sitting there waiting for
mysql, the client, to be able to talk to it.
Before you can use any of the other mysql things, you *MUST* run mysqld (or
safe_mysqld).
So, start up an extra DOS Windows, and run mysqld.
It will start
