[PHP] Newbie Directory question

I'm wondering if there is a way to have your php development files in another directory other than htdocs when using apache. Similar to the virtual directories IIS uses. I have a dedicated hard drive for all of my development files seperate from the drive apache is on. I do work in Cold Fusion and
