Well Lisa, that is exactly the way htmlspecialchars is supposed to work.
Here you could also display - Test - without using any function at all,
simply echo "Test"; and this should work well.

As per my experience so far, there is no such depth limit existing. The only
limit is imposed by the system resources (like script execution time etc.)
but not by PHP.
