I dont see support for using ftruncate() on user defined stream
wrappers. When I try to truncate one I get an E_WARNING:
Warning: ftruncate() [function.ftruncate]: Can't truncate this stream!
Does anyone know of a way to truncate a user defined stream wrapper
using php's file system or stream

Make sure that your php and DBD::MySQL were compiled against the *same
exact* library. Apache loads in mod_php and mod_perl on startup and if they
in turn both load two separate libmysqlclient libs then you will get
multiple defined symbols--which Apache cannot resolve.

Kim is on the money. But to be more interactive with your DB from
javascript, instead of loading just static xml into javascript, load in a
url to a php page that generates xml based on a query string and a DB result
set, you have your interactivity. This may introduce security issues.
