I just tried with Centos 5.4 and there nslookup works ...
Quite a broken tool then, just was not aware that it was *so* broken ...

discussed just a few days/weeks ago.
The short story: there are many tools around, but none of them is really
"good" (though most of them are not really "bad" either :-)
But please check the archive.

Hi,
I just deployed a pdns installation using the gmysql backend. So far I
have only made installations using the LDAP backend and from there I am
used to the automatic-PTR generation.
Is there something similar for the (g)mysql backend?

So what about contributing it back? Open your source :-)

have already read
http://downloads.powerdns.com/documentation/html/slave.html#SUPERMASTER
PDNS can be configured to become a slave for a zone not previously
configured for IF the zone transfer request comes from a host previously
marked as a "supermaster".
So I don't see where that would fi
r case the PDNS
server. otherwise you might run into concurrency issues about who really
controls a domain.
the flow of data is like this:
client => sends update wish to master => master propagates changes to
slaves

allow-recursion=_YOUR_LOCAL_NETMASK_,127.0.0.1
recursor=127.0.0.1:5353
- --CUT--
After you have made the changes, be sure that you _restart_ (not reload)
both the recursor and the main pdns process.
If that does not help, post the contents of your recursor.conf &
he documentation on
http://downloads.powerdns.com/documentation/html/
2. have the recursor listen on a different port and pdns itself forward
recursion requests to this different port.

Another option would be to use the debian unstable tree that generally
contains much more up2date pdns* versio
w DNS can be abused.
And thus I will have a look at the allow-recursion option.
