The GUI defaults to NATIVE, after changing it to MASTER the notifications
started to go.

allow-axfr-ips take ips along with subnets masks, try to fix that.
In your slaves, you should insert your master in the supermasters table and in
your zones define NS record for that slave (the same name inserted in the
supermasters table).
