when you're reading a message into a group it is automatically marked as
read for all the others groups it was crossposted.
try seeing also the read articles and see that there are articles that
you've read or deleted previously in another group.

Just the last couple of days, I've noticed in a few groups that Pan is
seeing new messages, but the messages aren't showing up at all. This is
happening on multiple servers.
I haven't changed anything from a Pan standpoint (at least not that I'm
aware of) - been running 0.132 for several weeks
