Renaming .pan2 allows pan to start but obviously with a clean
database.
Renaming back the old .pan2 after staring with new .pan2 folder
same situation. I didn't really expect anything different I did for
grins and giggles real
al headers. Then I have to go back and highlight
again and delete those individual headers.
The missing is related to the above. I miss the right click option to
delete messages from the header pane. :)

that directory. That should get you a .pc
file, which you can copy in /usr/lib/pkgconfig.
That's what I did on my Debian SID, atleast ;)

If you try and d/l with klibido do you see a bunch of failures?
Those would be the files that are missing.
