2017-03-28 Thread Massimo Sgaravatto
First of all thanks for your help This is a private cloud which is right now using gluster as backend. Most of the images are private (i.e. usable only within the project), uploaded by the end-users. Most of these images were saved in qcow2 format ... The ceph cluster is still being benchmarked

[Openstack-operators] scaling gnocchi metricd

2017-03-28 Thread Ionut Biru - Fleio
Hello, I do have a cloud under administration, my setup is fairly basic, I have deployed openstack using Openstack Ansible, currently I'm a Newton and planning to upgrade on Ocata. I'm having a problem with gnocchi metricd falling behind on processing metrics. Gnocchi config: https://paste.

I recently got into trouble with a large backlog. What I found was at some point the backlog got too large for gnocchi to effectivly function. When using ceph list of metric objects is kept in a omap object which normally is a quick and efficient way to store this list. However, at some point

This is interesting, thanks for sharing. I assume your using an influxdb storage driver correct? I have also wondered if there was a specific reason for the TASKS_PER_WORKER and BLOCK_SIZE values. Also did you have to adjust your metric_processing_delay? Alex Krzos | Performance Engineering Re

The Mailman listserv on lists.openstack.org will be offline for an upgrade-related maintenance for up to 3 hours (but hopefully much less) starting at 20:00 UTC March 31, this coming Friday. This activity is scheduled for a relatively low-volume period across our lists; during this time, most messa

Hi Massimo, Thanks for providing more information. As you can see from David's blog and the script (https://github.com/dmsimard/migrate-glance-backend). The most tricky part is how to keep current image id, otherwise, all the existing instances will fail to rebuild. The way I'm suggesting can help

2017-03-28 Thread Ignazio Cassano
Hi all, I am using newton with cinder nfs driver. When I launch an istance its volume is correctly allocated on nfs stare but nova hypervisor-stats decrease the volume size from the available space. Since the space reported by hypervisor-stats is related to hypervisor local disk and not to nfs sh

I'm not using influxdb, just basic configuration generated by openstack ansible, which enables file storage by default. The reason for bumping those values was to process a lot of measures and 400 seems a high number at that time. I did use the below values without any impact metric_processi
