Bug potentially specific to VM's, particularly in this case VMWare 6.0.
Issue was found to occur when a VMWare virtual machine was setup to
operate as OS type Windows 8 or Windows 10.
The issue is the NIC defaults, in this setup, to e1000e Driver.
