something that shouldn't be the case: XvMC is substantially slower than
non-XvMC playback. Even non-HD video won't play back smoothly with XvMC

It should have installed into a directory in your path for you, then.
To find it, you would run something like find /usr -name=mythfrontend
and it will tell you where it is. However, it sounds like your whole
install is a bit messed up. I would run sudo yum install myth-suite

Sounds like you need to define the full path to the shutdown command in
the setup box. By default, most systems put shutdown into /sbin and a
non-root user doesn't have /sbin in its path.

I'm not sure what you mean by my having PSIP data, though. The channel
line I quoted was one I cobbled together using the dvb utilities. I
started with a list of the cable frequencies and ran azap. Taking the
frequencies it found, I then ran it and dvbtraffic to snoop things
