Is that a manual process? Do they send the unsubscribe to you and then you
take them off the list or is that a scripted feature of 2.1 that is not
available in 2.0.
If it is not manual how did you go about configuring it..

After a couple days of reading through the posts, I now have my own help request.
I took the repeated advice to RTFM several times. The INSTALL file was very
informative for getting the Code installed (imagine that!). However, it veers away
sharply in talking about any HTTP service.

In general, an MX record is not necessary if you have an A record.
That's probably not your problem here.

OK - But how do I get lists.mlsnet.com to relay mail to the mlsnet.com mail
server. Subcribers from the mlsnet.com domain are not receiving any news
letters sent out from the lists.mlsnet.com server. I am getting a connection
timed out when it tries to contact the external MX records.
I have added
I am trying to limit who can send mail to the list - I have tried turning on
the option of "Must posts be approved by an administrator? (Details) No Yes"
This way anything sent to the list would have to go to the administrator
first.
What is the proper way to do this?

I have Red Hat 8.0

I have a test lists set up with test users.
When a user subscribes to the list they get a confirmation from the mailman
server but when they reply there email seems to jus

lan can but nobody from the internet gets any mail back they use the web
interface or just send email they never get anything back..

Disabling content filtering gave same results. I also can provide a small
list for further testing.

Do you have an edge firewall for the LAN that may be blocking port 25 on your
machine? That would explain why LAN mails are working but extern
e exact same setup RH8 + postfix. Other users have posted here with
problems about the RH8 rpm, so I built MM 2.1.2 from source and have not had
any problems (except footers, but that is another story :-). Follow the
README.POSTFIX in the source tarball and you should be fine.

I want to keep plain format and not add the two lines
listed above. basically I want to just delete/trash/nuke any MIME on
the posts to the list. Can someone please advise what I need to edit
(in ToDigest.py if I am not mistaken) to get rid of t
ke this an anonymous list and that was done before the upgrade. I remember some field about number of recipients... and that field seems to be missing from this version.

Look in ~mailman/templates/en and look at subscribeack.txt.
If you change this particular file, it will affect all the lists on that
system.
If you want to make the change for just one list, create a directory
~mailman/lists//en and copy subscribeack.txt there and edit
it. At least I

It is probably about the same amount of work, but you could also create
an umbrella list to which all the other lists are subscribed. The
tedious part would be making sure that the sender is allowed to post to
all 50 lists, but you have to do that one way or another.

When you reply to the moderation message, what ends up on your To: line?
If you are sending to the wrong address, clearly the wrong thing will
happen.

Mailman knows which message you are approving or discarding.
Then, if you get the right To: and Subject:, having the first line of

It is also not clear to me why this would cause 100% CPU burn on startup
since I wasn't sending anything to any lists at the time. Perhaps
something was still queued ?
