Do you have a copy or link to mailman wrapper program in /etc/smrsh
directory?

Go back to the source directory and read the file README.SENDMAIL. The
file will explain how to setup the smrsh links so that sendmail will
allow the Mailman posting scripts to run.

We just upgraded from Mailman 2.0 beta to 2.2.1 (finally...)
It was installed via the tar package and we ran configure / make install.
We run the sendmail program as our MTA and it is on a RH 6.2
(kernel version 2.2.19-6 )
After that the check_perms -f program was run and it did change
