I resolved this problem. It was with my exim.conf file.
When I read the README.EXIM and copied the settings listed therein to my exim config
file, it had two settings, MAILMAN_UID and MAILMAN_GID. In the README it listed these
as exim, exim. I changed them to mailman mailman, but this was in
I installed Mailman on my Redhat 6.2 system that is running Apache and
Exim. When doing the configure, I specified --with-mail-gid=12 which is
the group for my "mail" account. I created the mailman account and am
using the default home directory for it. Exim is configured to use the
"mail" user
