write to the archive directory. I haven't fixed the problem due to lack
of time and the folks that I am running the lists for said they can live
without archives.

Just to add to Jon's comments. I used two sets of Mailman install
manuals. Combined, the instructions were clearer. Another tip is to get
the prerequisites going before installing Mailman. Get your mail system
working and make sure Python and the C compiler are installed. Pay
attention to the ./con
You might also want to set Mailman to reject (send a automated notice to
the sender) the email or simple discard the email. There is a setting in
Mailman where you can set everyone on your list to Moderated.
