I am wanting to shrink the archives on my lists. I only want to keep archives
for the last 2 or 3 years. Is there a script that will do this? What are the
steps to truncating and rebuilding an archive?

I realized that I was actually missing mylist in the private archives.
Once I issued bin/arch mylist it successfully rebuilt the archive. Thanks!

I know it's not a gmail problem because it's happening with so many
lists. I did notice that my CPU is almost always at 100% due to python -
don't know why. I know my machine is spitting out lots of mail but
cannot figure out what there is such a delay.

Ok, I stand corrected. Mail is working fine!
My problem is issuing the genaliases command. If it only works for root
when SELinux is off it should work for the user mailman. I have also
added the hash:/usr/local/mailman/data/aliases to my alias_maps in
/etc/postfix/main.cf

When I add: MTA='Postfix' to my mm_cfg.py file mail stops getting
delivered. I don't see anything suspicous in my logs to help. I
checked to confirm that the OutgoingRunner hasn't died. Postfix appears
to still be livering based on it's logs saying 'sent'.
I have one list which won't display online the archives. I don't
receive any web page error, it's just blank. I also have confirmed the
archives are listed in the directory and that I can view them from the
command line. I have the correct permission
It's fixed! Once I changed the permissions on my private directory using:
chmod o+x private
I was able to access the public archives.

Hey Mailman gurus!
I have a questions and am hoping someone can explain it to me. I run
backups on the lists on my Mailman server. One of the directories I tar
up is:
/usr/local/mailman/lists/*
The size of the tar file was about 34KB every week. All of a sudden
when I ran my last backup it w

]
I know I don't need all of the above but I wanted to duplicate how
messages were handled when people send directly to the list.

I am receiving spam from a listserv on my server and I am not even
subscribed to it. The spam is not getting through to the list members
which is a good thing. The name of the list is: maineattorneys-l and
sometimes the email will be to:

I run a Mailman server and have noticed more recently that it seems spam
is being posted to some lists but when I look at the headers the message
was only posted to the mailman-owner or the owner of the list. How is
this happening? Here is an example of a header. From just looking at

When I try to remove a member from a ban_list, I receive an error
message. It only says: Error (in red) Bad email address for option
ban_list and then all the banned member are listed. I am correctly
removing the member. Any ideas?

Is is cumbersome or possible to move archives from a listserv running on
L-Soft into Mailman. I just took over an existing list and created it
on Mailman. There are archives from the old list I would like to import
into Mailman. I am running Mailman 2.1.7. I cannot find anything in
the list
Is there a built in option in Mailman to search all of the archives in a
particular list? I saw this one listserv which has the option:

I am not able to figure out why my script is not running which I have
setup with cron. I created a script, which I made executable and placed
in the /etc/cron.daily directory. Cron is running but my script never
executes. Can someone help me figure out why?
