Does Mailman support using MySQL, LDAP or another SQL server for a backend?

My moderators keep getting messages stating that there are messages
pending. However when they follow the link the web page states database
updated and that there are no pending requests. They get these messages
daily.
How can i stop this?

We just changed from Majordomo to Mailman.
We use listserv for email announcements to members.
We need to be able to send messages from specific users.
We used to change the from header when we accepted messages in moderated
lists.
Is there a way to do this with Mailman?
