you can use the "strings" utility on the existing (but corrupt) files
and see if there is any valuable ascii information in the sections of
the file that are not corrupt. Segments of the user list crop up in the
database several times so you might be able to resurrect your list that
way. Painful,
The rights on the file /usr/local/mailman/data/aliases are not set
properly. Try setting the file rights to 666 and see if the error goes
away. Then you can tighten the rights up further

I just updated from 2.1.2 to 2.1.3. On one of my lists, I can not get
the List Moderator passwd to work.
I can change the List Admin, and that works, but no matter what type of
passwd I use, the Moderator pw will not validate.
The Site pw works just fine.
