and lets not forget, we have both found out that it does lock, but that
isnt dvb-s2 because there is no video, so what is it for?
it doesnt mean anything as long as there is no picture.

the fact that it didnt lock in is a fact and the fact that mplayer

i have played w/ szap-s2 parameters and I got tuning, BUT not a picture

There are several missing things at the driver, preventing, for example,
the code to start/stop DMA to actually work. Fix them before implementing
a routine to store data at the audio buffers.

This series fixes some bugs at alsa initialization that were leading into
passing a wrong pointer into alsa PCM substream private_data, causing oopses
at start/stop stream.
It also implements a routine to fill the alsa buffers when data is received
at the URB handler.

No offence. But all these problems are complete FUD. I've been using a
HVR-4000 and a NOVA-HD-S2 since VDR 1.7.0 (which required multiproto)
and since I made the S2API-patch for VDR 1.7.0 (which I released in
October 2009). I've never experienced these issues in the past 1,5
years.

yes? thats a shame! how you can use it under VDR, when it doesnt even
tune in with szap-s2? please provide a better look at how you managed
to get this card working and it would be helpful to provide some
szap-s2 output on a HD / DVB-S2 channel, so that I can see if it tunes

That card definitely works on DVB-S2. The only problem I had with that card is
its fragility. I have a few burnt HVR 4000 (lite) cards in the lab.
