using "Send - Email as OpenDocument spreadsheet" to myself. I was
then able to open the file attachment in when the email arrived in Outlook
and save it to my local hard disk.

I created a test spreadsheet - test.ods - and selected "Send -> Email as
OpenDocument spreadsheet".
