doing more than two dozen shutdowns with each kernel (4.15.0-10 and

I have Ubuntu 14.04 x64 (kernel 3.13.0-29-generic) on Asus X75V laptop.
Wi-fi is disabled on boot. I have to close and open laptop to hibernate it and
wake up to activate wi-fi. This is the first issue. I can live with that, but

I want to mention that upstream Linux developers actually *do* care
about ABI stability.
For example, one of the commits broke ABI but it was quickly reverted
and then fixed in a way that does not change the ABI:
