I think it might be fixed. Yesterday I split apart my zfs mirror,
reattached the drive using /dev/disk/by-id and it worked without any
issues. I am using the 4.8 kernel now which has zfs 0.6.5.8. It looks
like the userland zfs tools are still at 0.6.5.7.

It might be better to just upgrade zfs to 0.6.5.7. The fix for this and
several other important issues are included in 0.6.5.7.
