I have the same problem. Since 4.13.0-25 I can't login into desktop. Here is my
dkms status output:
root@sam:~# dkms status

OK, just installed the nvidia driver from
http://de.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/384.111/NVIDIA-Linux-
x86_64-384.111.run by hitting ctrl+alt+F2 after booting into login
screen to switch to a console, login to root, stop lightdm, execute the
nvidia update. There were some errors during
