I am having issues with data rate falling and climimng back up. I use
wavemon and no change in signal. Then I try the older model AWUS036NH,
and I notice the behavior is greatly enhanced. I was thinking hardware
problem, but I am not sure now after reading this bug. I can tell you
this for sure
also when I unplug the "NHR" model, the kernal crashes and locks up the
lapto to where I have to force power down.

Ok I did as you said. Note: that I normally run and operate under

into an administrator account and performed what you asked.

The AWUS036NHR did not power up. I believe there was no driver for it.
The AWUS036NH worked fine

Correct. Also, I noticed the lssub log, and none of the other hubs were
powered. Even though this wireless adapter has a second power
connector. I don't know if it is going to be possible to program a
second port to power this thing. But I think that is an ingredient that
would help.
Thanks,
Item 2, also when it locks up two lights blink on and off on the laptop.
The hard drive light and the numlock light in unison.

Testing on the lastest daily kernel iso, the last link you gave me: the
AWUS036NHR did not list AP's with only AES wireless security. Only AP's
that were configured for TKIP. Also I tried to manully conect to AES
secure AP, and it would not connect. perhaps same problem for bug #
1170463.
