Not a long term fix but just proposing this as this saved me from not booting in pop_os! 21.10. Disable either the trackpad or trackpoint in BIOS. I disabled my trackpoint and I am able to boot again. Just so that other users who end up here have some temporary workaround, as to update the kernel
