due to an gcc update, several programs give errors.
This includes DKMS as the GCC version installed is newer than the version the
kernel was compiled with.
This happens with the newest kernel from the stable channel

This fixes it for me (raven ridge 2200g though). But unfortunately it
seems that the version in linux-firmware is not sufficient and after
every update it gets back.

FWIW, I ran into this after updating to 19.04 from 18.04.
Audio working fine with HDMI (yay) but not with back panel audio (boo)
unless I ran aplay as root, e.g.

Upgraded to 5.0.0-15 today via command line with 'do-release-upgrade'.

I have a Lenovo G500 (32 bit laptop about 5 years old).
I am seeing the same behavior on my system. Booting 4.15.0-47-generic works
fine, but both
4.15.0-48-generic and 4.15.0-50-generic usually hang at boot time. If I enter
grub at boot and select 4.15.0-50-generic, it usually hangs at this:

Unbelievable: After many years with Ubuntu-12.04 to 16.04, followed by
Linux Mint up to 19.3 (Ubuntu 18.04), I switched to a fresh new install
