Since 2010 or so I used an external WiFi dongle because of my issues,
but now I decided to give the internal one another try.
I am now on 14.04 LTS with it, kernel 3.13.0-91, the driver loads and HW
is recognized, but associating with a WPA2 AP fails:

I am on 14.04, and there is still something wrong with it. The midi part
work, but audio works only from the computer to the GAIA, the audio that
is played from the GAIA to the computer does not work (only getting
silence).
When I turn on the synthesizer I get these in the /var/log/messages:

Oh not sure if it matters, once the keyboard is connected to the
computer it is almost unplayable from the keyboard (as if there is lots
of traffic on the usb connection that keeps it busy). Let me know if
there are ways to get more diagnostics.

from git.
The 4.4.13 and the 4.7rc6 built and ran, no problem
but during the bisect building the 3.13.0-24.47 to 3.15.0-1.3 kernels have been

This solution works on my laptop (ubuntu 16.04, but should work on previous OS):
open as root file
/etc/UPower/UPower.conf
and change IgnoreLid=false ==> IgnoreLid=true
save changes, restart system and now it works :-)
You can remove light-locker now.
