Title:
Acer Aspire 1551 fails to resume after suspend

Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
  Won't Fix
Status in linux package in Suse:
  New

Bug description:
The Acer Aspire 1551 is a laptop with an AMD M880G chipset and an AMD
processor. The particular laptop I tested is an Acer Aspire
1551-5448, with an AMD Turion II Neo dual-core mobile processor K625
  and Radeon 4225 discrete graphics.

Suspend seems to work: various systems shut down, the display blanks,
the hard drive stops, and the power LED goes from the steady blue of
"on" to a blinking orange. However, when I press the power button to
get a resume, the resume does not succeed. The power LED returns to
steady blue, the battery LED lights up again, the fan starts, but that
  is all.

I have looked in /var/log/syslog and I do not see any events related
to a resume, so I don't think the kernel is running at all during the
  resume attempt.

I am willing to run any commands that would provide useful
information, copy stuff out of syslog, or whatever else will help
diagnose the problem. Just let me know what you need. Please ask
soon, because this is my boss's laptop and he will be taking it away
  soon!
