I don't know the internal wiring of the laptop so can't be totally sure.
In 99% of laptops I have seen, the USB-C port is owned by the Intel
chipset. So indeed if you connect a display cable to it that's USB-C at
one end then that port should operate as a monitor wired directly to the
Intel GPU.
So using USB-C adapter or the Mini DisplayPort instead of HDMI will go
the trick ?

It's unlikely the HDMI port is hardware-switchable independently from
the GPU. What Windows would be doing is keeping the Nvidia driver
always-enabled so you can always use the HDMI port, but just preferring
that GPU rendering be done on Intel when in integrated mode. That's
actually what GNOME doe

Thanks for the bug report.
It appears your HDMI port is wired to the Nvidia GPU only so it can only
be used when the Nvidia GPU is active. This is normal for most laptops
with two GPUs.
