The issue started happening after the use of an pre-installed harddrive
(with 16.04/unity) which i'd put in another noetebook: hardware change
from a asus P55 to a X55U. After that i started the usual udate & upgrade.
Last notice: i tried out to install a second (mate) desktop environment

Did this issue start happening after an update/upgrade? Was there a
prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.20 kernel[
