I've seen this same issue on another laptop (Dell m3800) and was hoping
it was hardware related but it's not apparently. I believe it's related
to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1550779.

prior kernel version where you were not having this particular problem?
