Ever since I have this device, I always needed to start windows before
Ubuntu to get it working.
The behaviour was the same with my previous computer 5 years ago, with the
Ubuntu version from the time.

I successfully updated to the latest upstream kernel available today :

I just updated my BIOS. (Thanks for giving me the opportunity to tinker with
my BIOS)

The card only works when I boot Windows and then restart to Ubuntu.
