Oh, I didn't install it, just fired up the live cd. I thought they contained
the same kernel version.
I don't really want to re-install the whole system since it is my main work
computer. Can't I just install the kernel from somewhere?

environment? If you didn't install it, that's why you would see the
older kernel.
