As the new installation keeps crashing at the login I can't run the
command in the terminal window.

I tried to upgrade von ubuntu-budgie 17.10 to 18.04 directly. extremly
slow installation, on reboot it took minutes to start up, login led to a
black screen and a few minutes later took me back to the login screen.
