Having the same issue with external monitor occasional flicker. Moving
the mouse stops the flicker when it occurs. Happens every 15 to 30
minutes.
Adding intel_iommu=igfx_off to /etc/default/grub resolved the issue for
me too.

What I've done:
1) installed the latest stable kernel (it appears to not solve completely the

passed the mouse cursor over the Kde icons menu, opening the various sub
menus, closing them moving the mouse over the preferred icons and the

Ordered a new set of DDR3 to verify a possible conflict between the

occur again I'll notify it. If the problem concerns with the kernel it
is possible to state that 4.10 kernel presents a bug at least for a

Not sure which is the key piece. But combination of all these results
for me in video capture working predictably, with no cut-down of USB
bus. The failure case 'lsusb -v' still coredumps, but video capture
works.
1) Run mainline kernel 3.15.0-999-generic x86_64 or newer.
2) Do the apt-g
Further testing shows if application VLC is given incomplete parameters
regarding the capture device, the USB subsystem lockup is provoked.
Provide the following parameters, and video capture works correctly for
both kernel 3.13.0-23 and 3.14.0:
video device=/dev/video0, audio device=hw2,1, input

the bug with all USB getting cut down. As soon as data tries to flow
through the /dev/video0 -> usb connection, all USB stops. Trying to
