projects on github seems to work, maybe concider integrating into ubuntu
/ kernel if possible, so that we don't have to reinstall module with
each new kernel update.

no thanks, the workaround is fine.
for the time being, open-source drivers are more needed for live boot
and fresh installing, than daily use (hope this might change in the future).
I'll update this bug if things changes.
thanks

ok sorry for the delay ...
now I have 2x 7950 and this is nearly the same : on liveCD, X server fails to

still works well when there

going to TTY1 seems to work (screen fleckers, and I can reboot cleanly with
ctrl+alt+del), but it's still a pink screen without login prompt.

menu when installed) from liveusb ?

Public bug reported:
AMD crossfire is only supported by proprietary drivers, which are only
available when Ubuntu is installed.
During liveCD session, X server fail to work when using 2 AMD cards (hangs on a
pink screen)
I must disconnect one card to complete the installation, then add the

I tried downgrading BIOS to all versions which supports AM3+ CPU's (3030, 3029,
3027) : same behaviour.
I unplugged one of the 2 video card : same behaviour.
then I realized that, on the first screenshot, it seems to hang after ACPI.
So instead of testing with BIOS default settings, I turned off
