internet for this bug report to fix this issue. It is now 5 years after

upgraded my CPU and my RAM and swapped out a new video card (still an

I was running into the same/similar error. Inside of
/var/lib/dpkg/updates one of the files appeared to be stopping my update
process. The contents of the file was,

Hi guys, everyone speaks about ubuntu 17.10 in combination with a Lenovo laptop.
I have Lenovo thinkpad E530 and use Xubuntu which is also affected.
USB devices cannot be used to install a new system.
Keyboard and mousepad dont work (internally also USB devices I guess).

I got it fixed by local computer shop. By local I mean I found 3 in
Slovakia capable of changing BIOS chip and this one was the cheapest and
able to send courier to pick it up at bring it back with no hassle...
I beleive you can find a guy capable of replacing BIO
I got my y50-70 fixed today.
The FIX was to change the BIOS chip with a new one! Costs me 100€.
Good bye ubuntu, let the Windows headaches come back again. This is too
bad situation.

I am so done with ubuntu/linux. My Y50-70 goes to repair shop tomorrow
to have BIOS chip replaced, approx. cost 100+ euro. Wonderfull!

In our production environment of ~1800 nodes we've seen oom-kill events
that looked similar to this bug's pattern - oom-kills killing large
server processes while resident memory was far lower than available
physical memory.
We were affected by the original bug and saw that issue readily
addresse
Hey Joseph,
after we switched to Kernel 4.4.0-31-generic everything is working fine
for now. I think we can close this bugreport because the bug is related
to the GPFS Kernel Modules which weren't tested properly on
4.4.0-87-generic.

today we switched to kernel 4.4.0-31-generic. IBM told us to use this
kernel in conjunction with GPFS. We'll see if it helps ...
