it happens quite regularly now with kodi (xbmc) just idleing. But i
observed that meanwhile i do not get any of the above known message in
syslog anymore.
the situation has become worse as it doesn't show this errors within the
log anymore and also reliably freezes the pc if i let kodi idleing for
the problem is also happening from time to time with every kernel used
till now in ubuntu 14.10 (since early betas and also with the latest
one).
Last time i got this problem though i had no entries in syslog as i
usually had it on the previous times.

Tried upstream kernel 3.17.0 from the ubuntu mainline ppa.
No issues with that one. I could reformate my external deive to ext4 and
am currently a lot of stuff to it now without any problems.

i will test the latest upstream kernel (already using it except for

under ubutnu linux 14.10 (also not on ubuntu 13.10 and stoped working
either after an early update during 13.10 or 13.04, can't remember).
lately i decided to report the bug and here is the syslog snippet
forgot to mention, i also had similar problems with various other
externel hdds, even ext3/4 formated.

i have the same issue, though it is not really randomly disconnecting,
but disconnecting 100% of the time every few minutes an ntfs external
hdd.
