Dziękuję za zainteresowanie. Aktualnie mój HP 8760 nie działa, więc

I've just launched my laptop, which I've recently updated to the latest
version of Kubuntu and guess what - the key started to work!
It even triggers a freedesktop.org notification, that the touchpad has
been disabled/enabled.

As I've mentioned in my previous comment, the key press and release
events go through the kernel and are received by the X Server and the X
Server understands the events well. So this seems not to be a kernel
issue at all. Am I right? If so, this bug could well have been closed as

However, I've looked a bit deeper into this and found out that I
actually can check whether X receives any events from this combination
of keys (Fn+F3). And it does. X not only receives the key press event,
but also the key release event (without the changes suggested in the
