Same issue with VERDE - (atombios and si_dpm) in both 6.5 and 6.8 series

There was a timeout bug in hdparm which was fixed upstream in 9.31 and

Title:
mpt2sas aborts ATA pass through security erase command
Status in linux-lts-xenial package in Ubuntu:
Confirmed
This is also present in later distro versions, right up to Cosmic.
In my case it manifests on Supermicro and Intel 7500/5500/5520/X58 -
based servers when Qlogic QLE2562 fibre optic cards are used - and
_ONLY_ with Qlogic cards, nothing else seems to trigger it
As with the wifi cards on laptops,

My setup is 4-head, using a Nvidia Quadro NVS 440 card (2 GPUs, 2 heads
apiece), others may have different setups but the common factor is
multiple heads across multiple GPUs.

Just to confirm this isn't something to do with local configuration
Using Trusty B2 dvd gives the same problem.

The current concensus is that the root cause is down to to powersave

To repeat:
install multiple nvidia GPUs in a desktop system
It's still an issue in trusty, at least. It may be contributing to being
unable to get 4-headed X working properly across 2 GPUs (this is a dual
GPU 4-output workstation card)
Xinerama works - badly.
