Tom: yes that's true, recompiling stuff is out of the focus for me and
most "user" people, Ubuntu is not ArchLinux and it should "just work".
Why can't we just trace back when this bug was introduced by whom and
revert the change?

I'm using Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS \n \l with 4.4.0-66-generic #87-Ubuntu SMP
Fri Mar 3 15:29:05 UTC 2017 x86_64 and have all updates installed and my
wifi does not work for over one month, upon connecting to any network
the machine will freeze, unplugging does not help, I have to hard-reset.
