Thank you. That solution still makes it so that you can't control the
volume though. I thought you had a more complete solution on your side,
my mistake.

Hello. I am in the same situation as Henry and I would also like to know

The seems to be related to unity since using KDE, i'm using about 700Mo
when not doing anything while using 1.9 Go after 12 hours of not doing
anything with unity.
When closing & re-opening my unity session, the RAM drop to 800Mo and
slowly increases over the time, still without doing anything!

The problem seems more serious than I thought, my system froze again while
displaying a Stackoverflow.com page and another time while a Google search page
was being dynamically updated (while typing in the search field).
So while it is 100% reproducible on Facebook, it looks more sporadic on othe
Public bug reported:
I am flagging this as a linux bug because it occurs after an update of
the kernel, but this could as well be a Firefox issue.
Yesterday (2016-04-06), as part of the regular package updates, the kernel was
updated to version 3.16.0-69. Since then, when I open Facebook on Fire
As a side note, what would be the process to safely "rollback" these
package updates? Synaptic does not let me force the meta-packages to the
previous version, and simply removing the kernel headers and image
sounds scary...

I also reproduced it by chance with a SD card configured with an ARM
bootloader located in block 2+. Changing one byte in block #6 restored
the normal behaviour, where all partitions are correct

Further troubleshooting have linked this issue with systemd-logind
reporting an incorrect "LID close" signal and thereafter suspending the
computer; the message was indeed a red herring.
I will open a bug report on the specific package, this one is good to
close.

OK, I have to apologize on that one: it seems the kernel message was a
red herring.
I just compiled the kernel from ubuntu-vivd repository (3.19.0-16-generic) on
14.04.2, and it runs OK.
I’ll try to re-install 15.04 to see if I can troubleshoot this issue further.
