I am affected with 16.04, kernel 4.4.0-51-generic.
The only way I could make my system work has been to install initial
Ubuntu 16.04 and not upgrade any single package since installation.
I used to have hangs even before login, so I enabled auto-login without
password and things got better.

After the installation of the mainline kernel on the remaining machine,
the problem hasn't appeared anymore for more than one month, then
