16.04 LTS hangs on installer when running nested virtua
So I'm still not able to install 16.04 under 16.04 using KVM. I've tried
with the latest 16.04 ISO, but still freezes and uses 100% CPU - this
works if the guest is Yakkety.

That works - it boots into the live desktop, and it's clearly using
accelerated (nested) KVM.

Tried installing Debian 8, same problem - solid freeze on bringing up
the installer inside the VM1 (named host1 in the logs above)
