Ignore my previous comment, it was caused by a change in the cloud-init
configuration that caused the network to fail.

I have had a similar problem.
Two of my vm's were upgraded last night from linux-image-6.8.0-53-generic:amd64
6.8.0-53.55 to linux-image-6.8.0-56-generic:amd64 6.8.0-56.58+1 and lost the
network connections.
After restoring one of them and running the upgrade manually seems to
work. Still in the
