important power management functionalities (cpu cstates and gpu display

intel_idle.max_cstate=2
updated grub and now I'm flicker free for a few days.
The last kernel without the flickering for me was the kernel that
shipped with 21.10

got install media, and it decided to boot all the way up.

Please note that before I installed your kernel, my system did boot just
fine, and was running the most recent stock kernel as of the opening
date of this bug (2013-09-01). In fact, upgrading to that kernel is
what killed my wireless, which worked fine before I did an apt-get dist-
